{"id":18097,"date":"2016-12-01T13:39:55","date_gmt":"2016-12-01T12:39:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/opentalk.iit.it\/?p=18097"},"modified":"2023-06-15T16:35:23","modified_gmt":"2023-06-15T14:35:23","slug":"iit-graphene-labs-participated-at-composites-europe-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/opentalk.iit.it\/en\/iit-graphene-labs-participated-at-composites-europe-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"IIT Graphene labs participated at Composites Europe 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The new IIT-Momodesign helmet<\/em><em> displayed at the trade fair in D&uuml;sseldorf <\/em><em>as example of technology transfer activity of IIT under the umbrella of Graphene Flagship<\/em><\/p>\n<p>  <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/36ooisSVkcQ\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It is the most recent commercial product of IIT <a href=\"https:\/\/graphene.iit.it\/\">Graphene Labs<\/a>, coming out of a collaboration with the Italian design company Momodesign: a motorcycle helmet with a graphene coating that allows better distribution of impact force, making the helmet less susceptible to damage even in high temperature conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The helmet was displayed at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.composites-europe.com\/\"><strong>Composites Europe 2016 <\/strong><\/a>trade fair in D&uuml;sseldorf, 29 November &ndash; 1 December, under the umbrella of the Graphene Flagship, together with products and prototypes from other European partners: a near-field communication (NFC) antennas (National Research Council, Italy), a graphene additive for resins (Avanzare Innovacion Technologica, Spain), and the first graphene-skinned aircraft &ldquo;Prospero&rdquo; (Universities of Manchester, Central Lancashire, and several SMEs, including Haydale Composite Solutions, UK).<\/p>\n<p>For companies looking to explore the potentials of graphene in composites the Graphene Flagship held a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/graphene-flagship.eu\/grapheneconnect\">&ldquo;Graphene Connect&rdquo; <\/a><\/strong>during the event. The workshop focused on graphene-based composites and coatings, including lightweight and multi-functional composites for aerospace and automotive industries, offering a platform for networking and collaboration between academia and industry.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/graphene-flagship.eu\/\">Flagship Graphene<\/a><\/strong>, Europe&rsquo;s biggest ever research initiative, carries out advanced research into the creation of unique and innovative materials by incorporating graphene into composites.
