Lorenzo De Michieli will assume the role of Director of Technology Transfer at IIT from next October, a strategic position for the transition from research applications to the market
Lorenzo De Michieli is currently serving as the Director of the Rehab Technology Lab at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT). This lab focuses on developing innovative robotic prosthetic devices, orthoses, and rehabilitative solutions with high technological impact and market potential. He has also held the position of Head of Innovation at IIT’s Technology Transfer Area, where he was responsible for forming industrial partnerships and supporting the launch of spin-off companies. Lorenzo De Michieli has worked as a contract professor at the University of Genoa, Faculty of Economics, teaching Collaborative Innovation and Technology Transfer. Additionally, he is a member of the Supervisory Board of the “Fondazione Ricerca & Imprenditorialità,” a non-profit organization funded by major Italian banks, large industries, and leading research institutes to promote innovation and high-tech startups. He holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Physics (Materials Science) and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Robotics) from the University of Genoa. Throughout his career, he has conducted in-depth research on intellectual property protection and innovation management at both national and international levels.
