When technology, architecture and politics team up

The former Morandi Bridge at the last 44 metres

The last span of the new Genoa Bridge, designed by architect Renzo Piano, arrived at the end of Phase 1 of the COVID-19 health emergency, which Genoa anticipated yesterday. Almost to match the recovery to normality with the flicker of hope that derives from an enormous technological, innovation and human effort.

What was once the Morandi Bridge (read about it here) today is the hope of a new Renaissance for the whole Ligurian region, which passes from the fundamental synergy between science, research, innovation and technology transfer.

The completion of this first part of the overpass will take place today, April 28, 2020 in the presence of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the Minister of Infrastructures, Paola De Micheli, together with the Genoese and Ligurian political representatives. The inauguration could take place this summer, two years after the collapse of the Morandi Bridge.
